Amanda Seyfried has a lot of empathy for women suffering from postpartum depression, particularly given the limited resources that are available to them.
"You can find places to get help and talk about it but it's costly, it's cost-prohibitive, it's not accessible, still," she told Page Six. "It's still something that feels so hidden. Every movie like this is important and this film is told from a really, really compassionate point of view from the character that I play, that's why I did it."

It's unclear if the Oscar-nominated actress struggled with postpartum depression herself following the births of her two children, but Amanda plays a woman with crippling depression in her new film "A Mouthful of Air." While she would never claim to know what that anxiety-filled experience is actually like, the film gave her an understanding.
In her real life, Amanda and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, are raising daughter Nina, 4, and a son they welcomed in September of last year. They've yet to publicly reveal his name.
"There's never enough time," she said when asked how she manages parenting the two youngsters. "It's crazy, two is different than one but I'm really lucky and my mom lives with us. I can't believe I'm out and about talking about this movie, it's taken a long time to make, it's a tough subject."
A more amusing subject for Amanda is the now-classic "Mean Girls," in which she starred back in 2004. The actress loves when people talk about it.
"It made people feel like they had a place," she said before bringing the subject back to her new film. "Hopefully, this movie will do the same."
